Is this Thing Working?

Oh Shit!  Sure is!

So that was fun everybody.  I didn't realize my page could handle that kind of traffic.

AnyWho -

I hadn't planned on doing the diary type entries other than on the weekend, but I thought it might be interesting to go over what I was doing while my little firebomb was spreading over FB and the comment section.

I taught Robert Louis Stephenson's "Pirate Song" to my 4th graders.  We investigated how poets use different literary tools to create moods and feelings through poetry.  We discovered that by honoring those literary tools we can dust off a century-old children's poem and have a great deal of fun with what looked initially like a great deal of boring.
Me and the Littles turned it into a sort of chant and did our best pirate voices as we dissected the poem's alliteration and rhythm and discovered what could happen when you open your mind to the more difficult questions poetry has to offer.  When the itty-bitties realized it was a poem about children pretending they were pirates, they went nuts.  Like "Luke I am your father." NUTS.

I got to do that 4 times in a row today.
Each kid loved it.
Lesson went like gangbusters.

Afterwards I had the Kiddos dissect more poetry and watched with some degree of pride as they tapped out different rhythms to poems and tried to find the rhyme scheme and search for alliteration and sensory details.

I have the best job in the world some days.
I was hugged spontaneously by some hundred or so children who love me.
I made my co-workers laugh.
I helped a teacher out and bought a round of Starbucks.
I brought 4 classes to the floor with laughter and managed to teach them something in the process.

Went to a meeting with fellow Adventurers of San Antonio.
Spoke to a parent about how to re-inspire her son.
Spoke to a friend who was there to inspire me.
Spoke to my brother who made me laugh.
Read the comments and felt... very popular.

Had another absolutely wonderful day.  In what is continuing to turn out to be an absolutely charmed and incredible life.

I remain Obnoxious, Wonderful, and Winning.

Yeah, I just Charlie Sheened this shit.

Until Tomorrow...
